There menu includes fresh seafood dishes and delicious cocktails, all while looking out at the ocean. For a restaurant that's priced right and has delicious New Zealand cuisine with a twist, try the new spot Queenstown Bistro. Their ambiance is spot on and their menu is delicious, don't let the New Zealand theme scare you. For coffee options, Better Buzz is a San Diego favorite but Elixir Espresso and Wine Bar on Girard is equally as good for a quick refresh. 

History of La Jolla

Much of the land in La Jolla only began to be developed in the late 1800's after the railroad system was able to connect the community with the rest of San Diego. This railroad system was called the La Jolla Railway and it transported resort goers up the coast from Downtown San Diego to the newly bustling resort area. Visitors stayed in small cottages and bungalows above the La Jolla Cove and in the summer a temporary tent city was erected as well. Two of these buildings still exist and are the oldest in La Jolla but after a fire in 2020, one of the buildings was largely destroyed. As time went on, La Jolla continued to develop and become a community for families to settle down and start businesses while being close to the ocean.
